Why I Love My Husband But Have Been Known To Roll My Eyes At Him, Dramatically, Part XXVI

Dinner chez HBM, last night:

Wonderbaby (pointing, with frown, to suspicious orange lump on plate): Whassat?

HBM: Sweet potato.

Wonderbaby: NO LIKE TAY-TOE.

HBM: Fine. It's a yam.

Wonderbaby: HAM?

HBF (helpfully): It's a tuber.

Wonderbaby: TOOBER?

HBF: Tuber.

Wonderbaby: NO LIKE TOOBER.

(Tuber/yam/sweetpotato flies by HBM's head, very narrowly missing her nose, and lands, with a splat, on the dining room wall, where it clings for a sticky moment before sliding, tuberously, to the freshly-cleaned floor.)

HBF: Ah.

HBF: Tuber-too-close-is. Be glad you didn't catch that.

Very punny.

I dare say HBF is lucky you love him for his many other sterling qualities - because a joke like that is practically a hangin' offense at my house.

I roll my eyes at my husband when he tries to tell our 18 month old why he shouldn't throw food on the hardwood floors (which he wanted in the kitchen)and really get upset when he then does it. Come on, its a kitchen floor! I'm rolling my eyes just thinking about it.

He needs a new writer - oh wait... the writer's strike sure does suck the big one, doesn't it?

That's a groaner. Doesn't even qualify for a real laugh. I understand the eye rolling!

OMG I think I might love HBF now.
That's the kind of thing Misterpie would refuse to laugh at, too.

I would throw tuber at him... but I would tell Wonderbaby that she used to LOVE sweet potato when she was a baby... That usually made my girls retry the food in question...but then they are gullible

"Thank you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitresses!"

It was kind of clever though. And "tuberously" is a great word.

Wish I'd thought of it.

That's the kind of pun that made my husband fall in love with me.
::::modestly smirking::::

I totally love puns. Good or bad!

I choked on my dinner. Fortunately, it didn't hit the wall, but it did hit my keyboard, dammit.

Yeaaahhh, that's actually pretty good.

My husband says lovely things like, "Some hams just can't be cured!" about him and my son and the way they like to ham it up.

Ah, but it's endearing, eh? ;-)

I think HBF and the Minotaur should be prevented from ever meeting. I don't think I could handle this household if it got any punnier.

I just realized that your husband and my husband are twins who were separated at birth. Or maybe clones.
