As it was, she arrived before the emts, almost on the toilet.
DH delivered, and tried to tie the umbilical cord with his dirty shoe lace. It gave the midwives a good chuckle, when we finally got to the hospital. (where I delivered the placenta.)

But no massive tearing or cord around the neck, YIKES!

Congratulations to you all. Love all the stuff she was saying:)

My 16 month old son was in the room when his sister was born. Don't worry too much about might-have-beens with the cord -- up to a third of babies have a nuchal cord, it isn't likely it would have been a problem. Precipitous births at term sure can be scary, but they're generally relatively safe -- it's going that fast because (in some sense) everything is going right.

I tend to be very hands-off in my philosophy, but I think this really is one case where an elective induction would have made total sense.

Hope you get breastfeeding sorted soon. These early days can be so crazy. Try to enjoy the "up" parts, and roll with the inevitable "downs".

Helenhschinskehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10316478950862562594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21558474.post-13344391218620047812008-05-26T11:32:00.000-04:002008-05-26T11:32:00.000-04:00oh catherine thats a story for telling sprout one ...oh catherine thats a story for telling sprout one that he will want to hear again and again.congratulations and wow! you are a superhero.hugs to you LAVANDULAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21558474.post-67081860996519189622008-05-26T10:51:00.000-04:002008-05-26T10:51:00.000-04:00Much MUCH too late, but massive congratulations to...Much MUCH too late, but massive congratulations to you and your gorgeous also rather massive baby J. proper email to come, C xoxoxoxgingajoyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01356643079413822527noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21558474.post-60442097844598408852008-05-26T03:47:00.000-04:002008-05-26T03:47:00.000-04:00You are one strong, brave woman.
