We're three hours away from my family, so while none of them came to help, they all called to tell my husband that he shouldn't let me do anything!

By the way, I found your blog last week when I was searching for a community for Feminist housewives. I didn't end up finding one, so I made one. If you have a few minutes to check it out, I'd really appreciate it. I'm new to all this and could use any suggestions you have. After spending SIX WEEKS living in a hotel (long story), the truck finally arrived, everything got in the house. We couldn't figure out why the fuck it was so cold in the house. Maybe because the door had been open all day? Oh no. Because the twit who had rented the house before us had SHUT OFF the heat and when we turned it back on the motor was blown. Unbeknownst to us, of course. We woke up in the morning and it was 51 degrees in the house. I was preggo and we had a 12 month old toddler. Good times, lemme tell ya.

You've got Internet and heat. I'd say life is hell right now, but you will certainly be able to look back at this and laugh in two years. We are. While pg with baby 2, 15 ton, 110 foot high (we know because of the crane we had to hire) tree fell into our house in four places during a thunder storm, cracking the wall alongside our two-year old's crib. Friends who were willing to risk death teetering on the icy walks bearing furniture. I think our electrician actually peed himself with the overtime extra service charges, etc. We all had to go back and sleep on my old apartment floor, because it was 20 degrees out, there was no heat in the new house (no electricity because of the fire), and we had three small kids on the house. Oh, and I was 3 months preggers. Ah. The good days.
